India have given their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 campaign a major boost after defeating Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test at Galle. The victory has moved India up to fifth place with a Points Percentage (PCT) of 53.33%, keeping their hopes of reaching another WTC Final alive.
India Back in the WTC Race
Coming into the Sri Lanka series, India were under pressure after a difficult start to their WTC campaign. With four defeats already on the board, every remaining Test carried enormous importance.
